Musical entertainment this year includes Bucky Covington on Thursday evening, with Eliminator KC (ZZ Top Tribute Band) and a car show on Friday evening. On Saturday we begin the evening with Rick K & The Allnighters, a Vegas-style show band bringing hits from every decade. We then finish the 85th Homecoming with Fireworks! A fireworks show has not been part of the event for the past 14 years due to costs. To celebrate the 85th anniversary of our event, the Committee plans to bring them back for 2017!

Bucky Covington Reigning from Rockingham, North Carolina, Bucky discovered his love for music at a Jeff Healey Band concert. “It was Confidence Man – I saw myself standing on the stage, playing the guitar, wearing sunglasses and just going at it. That ran through me like nothing before. The next day, I bought me an electric guitar and a Peavey amp. I was nineteen and the world has not been the same since.” Covington rose to fame in 2006 when he won the hearts of fans as a contestant on the wildly popular television show American Idol. After finishing in the Top 8 of American Idol, Covington went on to release his debut album, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country chart and achieved Gold sales status. His debut single, A Different World, rose into the Top 5 on the Billboard charts. In addition to American Idol, Covington has also appeared on Good Morning America, Live! Formed by lead vocalist, Rick K., the perennially popular group graduated from a local bar band into a high performance, Las Vegas style “show band”, that has been touring all across the U.S. for over a decade. Career highlights include performances at the NBA Finals, NFL games, NASCAR tracks, Governor’s inaugurations and casinos. The band has 4 CD releases featuring their re-creations of classic pop hits of the 60-90’s. International recognition began shortly after a YouTube video of the band went “viral” in June of 2010. The video features the percussion theatrics and unique style of drummer, Steve Moore, AKA “The Mad Drummer”. His hard rocking performance during their version of ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man” was re-titled “This Drummer’s at the Wrong Gig” and has since been viewed over 23 million people worldwide. In addition to their international performances, the group continues touring throughout the U.S. with dates and locations available on their website www.rickk.org. We look forward to having Rick K. and the ALLNIGHTERS Saturday August 5th.
