Tourism
is vital to the Belpre area. The many varied tourist spots,
range from small “down-home craft shops” to doll
factories, antique shops, covered bridges, the beautiful Ohio
River, Blennerhassett Island and Museum, Farmers Castle Museum
& Educational Center, historical sites and buildings.
Visitors can relive history, shop in modern and up-to-date
gift shops, visit antique stores, and visit a town that is
family oriented. You will find a town that makes you forget
“the hustle and bustle of the big city” and yet
is very up-to-date. With Marietta, Ohio being only 11 miles
away and Parkersburg, West Virginia only one mile, visitors
will find the Belpre area one of the nicest places to bring
a family. There are beautiful golf courses and river access
for fishing, boating and picnicking.
Once you come to Belpre, you will definitely want to return.
For a town the size of Belpre, people are amazed at the beautiful
parks and the recreation which is provided for people of all
ages. There are sports for young and old alike, concerts in
the park during the summer and holiday lights in December,
which has caused the town of Belpre to be known as the “City
of Lights.”
There
are many outdoor activities, including walking trails, golfing,
fishing, boating, picnics, etc. Visitors enjoy all the beauty
of the parks in our town. You can relax in Depot Park and
see the restored caboose, picnic under the beautiful trees
in Howes Grove Park, or if you are looking for a place to
launch your boats, (nearby camping facilities), or vacation,
spend a day in beautiful Civitan Park. Located on the banks
of the Ohio River and overlooking the historic Blennerhassett
Island and Mansion, Belpre, Ohio is your place to spend a
day……or several days a week during the spring,
summer and fall seasons. Come take a drive through the Ohio
Scenic byways managed by the Ohio River Trails, or take an
